Servers

Servers are the core organizational unit in Magne — a shared space for communities, teams, or friend groups.

Creating a Server

Any user can create a server. Servers come with:

Organize your server with hierarchical categories:

Categories — Collapsible groups that contain channels. Reorder via drag-and-drop.
Text channels — Persistent chat rooms for conversation
Voice channels — Real-time audio rooms
JTC hubs — Join-to-Create channels that spawn temporary rooms

Fine-grained access control with a role-based permission system:

Custom roles — Create roles with specific permission sets and colors
Channel overrides — Override server-level permissions per channel
Permission flags — Manage messages, manage channels, manage webhooks, ban members, and more
Role assignment — Assign multiple roles to members

Public servers appear in the Discovery tab, organized by tags. Server owners can opt into discovery with tags and descriptions.

Import server structures from Discord using the template system. Templates replicate categories, channels, and roles for quick setup.
