# Messaging

# Messaging

Magne offers rich messaging across both server channels and private conversations.

## Text Channels

Every server can have multiple text channels organized into categories. Channels support:

* **Rich text** — Markdown formatting, code blocks, and embeds
* **File attachments** — Upload images, documents, and media (up to 25 MB)
* **Link previews** — Automatic unfurling of URLs with metadata and thumbnails
* **Message reactions** — React with emoji to any message
* **Pinned messages** — Pin important messages for easy reference
* **Message editing** — Edit your messages after sending
* **Message deletion** — Remove your own messages or moderate others' (with permissions)

## Direct Messages

Private 1-on-1 conversations with end-to-end encryption support:

* **E2EE** — Signal Protocol (X3DH + Double Ratchet) for message confidentiality
* **Read receipts** — See when your messages have been read
* **Reactions** — Same reaction system as channels
* **Message history** — Persistent conversation history

## Search

Full-text search across server messages and conversations. Search by keyword, user, or channel.
